THE CAUSE: INNER CITY ARTS

February 09, 2018

For our spring season, we’ve partnered with Inner City Arts, a local organization that offers a safe, creative space in Los Angeles where more than 200,000 children have been invited to create and explore. Inner City Arts offers art classes for students and integrated art programs for educators. Founded in 1989, the campus is a literal oasis of learning in the heart of Skid Row. Helping children develop skills to help them grow in the 21st century workforce as collaborative, creative individuals.

Now more than ever, it’s important to work on keeping organizations like this alive and flourishing. Arts education is something we at LACAUSA believe in deeply and we are so excited to begin this journey with ICA. During the school day, after school and on weekends, elementary, middle and high school students come to Inner-City Arts beautiful campus to work with teaching artists and study a range of subjects within the visual, performing and media arts.

They also offer Professional Development services, providing experiential training for educators, university students, school administrators, and others dedicated to bringing high-quality arts education to students of all ages and backgrounds.

The Inner City Arts mission:

"We believe that the arts and creativity are transformational. Inner-City Arts envisions a society that honors the human capacity for creativity, and values its cultivation in the education of young people.

Our mission is to engage young people in the creative process in order to shape a society of creative, confident and collaborative individuals. "
